Partial list of artists to perform at 2023 MAMA Awards unveiled
A partial list of artists performing at the 2023 MAMA Awards at the Tokyo Dome on Nov. 28-29 was announced Tuesday. The awards organizer CJ ENM announced a total of eight K-pop groups that are confirmed to perform at the one of the biggest annual K-pop award ceremonies. The bands are Ateez, INI, JO1, NiziU, Riize, TVXQ, Xikers, and Zerobaseone. INI, JO1, TVXQ and Xikers will perform on Nov. 28, the first day of the event. INI is a K-pop boy group that recently topped Oricon’s Weekly Single chart with its latest album “Tag Me.” JO1 topped Oricon’s Weekly Music chart three times in a row with its third album “Equinox” released in September. Legendary K-pop band TVXQ celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, and is scheduled to release its ninth LP in December. Xikers has seen continuous growth of its fandom, having sold out tickets to all of its first world tour shows. On the second day of the ceremony, Ateez, NiziU, Riize, and Zerobaseone will grace the stage. Ateez became a million-seller this year with its ninth EP released in June. It also held a standalone concert in Saudi Arabia, a first for a K-pop artist. NiziU, a K-pop girl group active in Japan, will debut in Korea on Oct. 30. Riize is SM Entertainment’s multinational rookie boy band which has sold more than a million copies of its debut album just a day after its official release. It is set to make a comeback with its second EP “Melting Point” next month. This is the first time a Korean award ceremony will be held at the Tokyo Dome, according to CJ ENM. More artists to perform at the event are yet to be announced.
